Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.
Oh beautiful, for patriot dream -------OUR FAVORITE VERSE!
That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!
We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July in Pasadena. We wanted to say thank you to all the people who have served America to get us where we are today including the the readers of this blog. Our last posting has generated numerous comments (see below).
Freedom of Speech as denoted by the Bill of Rights allows us to publish this blog and is essential to an open society. We have heard the desperate stories of human rights abuses in China, in Darfur, and in other places in the world. In fact, the human rights abuses in China were just addressed at the Pasadena City Council meeting by a Pasadena resident of Chinese ancestry (see the video feed of the public comments section)
As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers."
With this guiding principle, the District 6 Pasadena blogger will continue to comment and report on the issues impacting District 6.
Cue...."America the Beautiful"...
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.
Oh beautiful, for pilgrims' feet
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw;
Confirm thy soul in self control, thy liberty in law!
Oh beautiful, for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine,
'Til all success be nobleness, and ev'ry gain divine!
Oh beautiful, for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!
